What is HypnoMotherhood?
For a smooth transfer from HypnoBirthing to Motherhood
Life After Birth Doesn’t Have to be Stressful
Do you often get told how things will change once your baby arrives? Or have a friend say to you ‘Just wait until you have 2 kids!’? Or how you won’t be able to do this or that anymore? Basically, people telling you all those things you’ll have to ‘give up’? From freedom to sleep to comfort?
Of course there is the other side as well. The stories of total elation. ‘All is just perfect, it couldn’t be any better’. ‘Breastfeeding is awesome and everything is just wonderful’.
So, what’s true and how does that all make you feel?
What to believe and what not? Well, the truth is: it’s a mixture of everything. Motherhood comes with a broad spectrum of emotions.
If you attended my HypnoBirthing course, you know not to pay too much attention to external stories and comments, but rather to listen to, and do what feels right, for yourself, your baby and your family.
And that, right there, is the number one rule that also applies to HypnoMotherhood. HypnoMotherhood is a method that teaches you self-hypnosis tools and techniques to get the most out of your mothering experience.
It can help you deal with limited sleep, ground you when you’re totally wired or fired up and keep everything under control while the whole world around you is spinning like a top that won’t stop.
Who Benefits from HypnoMotherhood?
On average, women need 6-8 weeks of downtime after having a baby. Downtime can mean anything from no cooking or cleaning or taking your other children to their activities to no hosting parties or having visitors or construction workers around. OR even just to stay in bed! In German, the postpartum period is called ‘Wochenbett’ which literally means ‘Weeks in Bed’, because it takes at least that much time for your body to adjust and get back to it’s normal state.
This initial 6-8 week postpartum period right after birth is split into 2 parts: The first 2 weeks and the following 4-6 weeks, the early and the so called late postpartum period. If you have an easy and gentle start in those initial 2 weeks and use the techniques you learned in your HypnoMotherhood course, you’ll have a huge advantage during the following time that lies ahead.
MyGentleBorn teaches HypnoMotherhood during 3 different phases because each phase comes with different challenges, questions and concerns. The 3 phases are: 1) before you birth your baby 2) during the postpartum period and 3) well after the postpartum period.
Planning for the unexpected is always recommended, so if you’re pregnant now, this is the best time to start preparing for motherhood. Time flies so fast and if you’re prepared from day one, you’ll be able to design the transition into motherhood the way you want to.
On the other hand, I also believe in ‘better late than never’, so if you’re reading this and you’ve just birthed your baby or have been a mother for 3 months – or however long, you can still benefit greatly from HypnoMotherhood. It’s never too late to learn how to deal with certain situations in a positive, calm manner. Trust me, there are plenty of women who use these techniques years after birth, even me! It truly is life-changing, just like HypnoBirthing.
Just know, as with HypnoBirthing, there is no guarantee you’ll get what you plan for. No one knows what will happen, but, in the MyGentleBorn HypnoMotherhood course, you’ll also learn to accept the unknown and use the tools and techniques to help you deal with any challenge.
“I truly believe that we women are equipped with the capability and competence to birth and mother our babies in a way that is right for us. We know how it works and the key is hanging around our necks on a beautiful leash, just waiting to be used. Unfortunately, we lost the ability to put the key in the lock because we’re faced with Information overflow and instead, allow others to make decisions for us, no matter if they are right or wrong. Let’s take this power back and unleash our instincts that naturally lie within us.”
Who’s Most Important?
Visualization Technique: You’re sitting in an airplane and ‘The Safety Speech’ begins. Ugh, boring! Because you know the drill already. If the oxygen mask comes flying down, what do you do? You pick it up and put it on your face BEFORE you help your child put theirs on. Why? Because how are you supposed to help your child if you can’t breathe? You can’t and the airlines know this. Rescuers (firefighters, emergency staff, policemen, rescue swimmers, etc.) know this too and make sure their staff is safely equipped before saving other people’s lives.
How about you? Are you safely equipped to handle anything before tending to your baby’s needs? Or do you find yourself shoving your needs aside and only taking care of your baby’s?
Think about it. What good does it do your baby if you’re not well? And by well, I don’t only mean stricken with postpartum depression or burnout. You could be sleep deprived or undernourished or have difficulty breastfeeding. Or maybe you just need to shower! That’s stress you really don’t need or want.
Whatever your challenge may be, take it seriously and take care of it, because if you don’t, your challenge, no matter how small, can become a huge burden and that won’t help you, your baby or your relationship with your baby.
So, who’s most important after your baby is born? YOU!
HypnoMotherhood teaches you self-hypnosis tools and techniques to get the most our of your mothering experience.
How HypnoMotherhood Works
Just like with HypnoBirthing, you’ll learn self-hypnosis techniques such as breathing, relaxation, affirmations and visualization to help you create the mothering experience you desire. These techniques will help you relax and grab positive emotional resources when you need them most.
